Kicking Allergies to the Curb with Glass Doors

Do you suffer every season when the pollen count gets high in Cincinnati?

One great way to decrease the allergy misery for you and your family is to replace your screen doors with glass ones.  Glass doors still allow the sunlight in and let you see out of them, but they block much of the pollen that triggers your allergies from blowing in your home.

Glass Entry Doors

Entry doors come in so many shapes and sizes that you will never see a whole block of homes with the same entry door anymore.  This variety of doors also includes entry doors that have glass in them, instead of being made completely of a single solid material.  The glass can be a small window or a large part of the door.  It can even be a whole set where there is glass in the door, on the sides of the door and even above the door.

Regardless of what you choose, the increased glass in your entry door will allow for the same sunlight to come through without the pollen following it, unlike with some screen doors.

Glass Patio Doors

Glass patio doors are much more common than glass entry doors.  However, some glass patio doors like sliding patio doors have a higher likelihood of being paired with a sliding screen door than others.  Screen doors are great to get a large airflow through the house to help cool it down during the summer, but if you suffer from allergies it can just be letting the pollen in your home.

Instead, either don’t use your screen door during your allergy season, or use this as a chance to remove your plain sliding glass patio door with something a little more decorative that doesn’t use a screen door.  Something like French patio doors.

If you like the ease of a sliding patio door, there are also gliding patio doors that look like French doors but glide open.  They are also lighter in weight than the old sliding glass patio doors, so you may enjoy them even more.

Glass Patio Enclosures

If sitting on your patio is impossible during the nicer months because of your allergies, consider enclosing your patio.  An enclosed patio will allow you to still enjoy the sun, but without an allergy attack.

Best of all, enclosed glass patios can be enjoyed all year long, where outdoor patios can’t.
