● Transporting raw materials – Rails can significantly reduce carbon emissions. Instead of trucks, we use trains to bring materials into our manufacturing facilities.
● Milling the wood – We make sure that excess materials, regardless of its size and weight, don’t go to waste. For instance, we use excess wood to manufacture a smaller component for a window or door. We also use sawdust in creating our exclusive Fibrex® material. To date, 99% of our by-products become fuel or are reused, reclaimed, or recycled.
● Exterior coating – We apply coating to our exterior wood components to protect them from decaying and from the damaging effects of severe conditions.
● Packaging – To ensure our clients’ safety, we do not use coatings with TRI chemicals, HAPs, and other chlorinated solvents. Also, for our finished window and door packaging, we use only recyclable materials.
● Transportation to Distributors – Renewal by Andersen is a member of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay® Transport Program. To ensure better fuel efficiency, we monitor the driving performance, excess idle time, and emissions of our commercial vehicle fleet.
