Renewal by Andersen®’s Commitment to the Environment

The natural environment is rapidly changing, demanding more urgent actions to reverse or mitigate the effects of the climate crisis. That is why more and more corporations across various industries are making changes to help with this goal.

sustainable, eco-friendly windows

As a top manufacturer of quality windows, Renewal by Andersen® understands its responsibility and capacity for contributing to the protection and preservation of the environment. To give you a better idea of how we uphold our environmental commitment, below are some of the solutions we have offered so far:

Smart Use of Energy

Based on the numbers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an average home consumes more energy and emits a higher amount of carbon than an average vehicle — accounting for up to 40% of an average home’s HVAC expenses per year.

With our high-quality windows — may it be casement windows or specialty windows — you are not only able to enhance the design of your home. You can also enjoy the benefits of lower energy consumption.

Indoor Air Quality

Studies show that indoor air quality is far worse than the air outdoors. The main reason for this is the process called off-gassing, which enables the release of toxins from building materials through evaporation. Off-gassing occurs even after a building has been constructed, so it is a continuous threat to indoor air quality.

It may not be obvious how windows are related to indoor air quality, but such correlations are not missed by the experts at Andersen. That is why our window and door products are designed and certified to meet the strictest indoor air emission standards in the U.S. In fact, Andersen is the only window company that has obtained the Indoor Advantage Gold™ certification from the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). That said, you can be confident that our windows and doors won’t cause any harm to your indoor air quality.

Smart Use of Materials

Andersen has been quite mindful of the waste produced during the manufacturing process. That is why the company always aims to reduce any waste byproducts by putting a premium on recycling in all of our manufacturing processes. Most of our efforts are spent on the frame material and glass, and this has allowed us to conserve natural resources.

Fibrex®, an Andersen-exclusive composite material, is actually made from 40% reclaimed wood fiber and 60% proprietary polymer. Furthermore, most of the wood fiber we use is reclaimed from the company’s own window manufacturing facilities. Meanwhile, the High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass used in our windows is made from at least 12% reclaimed glass, which is enhanced with an innovative coating that protects it against UV rays and reduces water spots by up to 99%.

Long-Lasting Products

Of course, all these efforts to recycle materials and minimize waste will be for nothing if the products can’t last a long time. That is why Andersen has made sure that every window or door we produce is of durable quality and can actually last a lifetime. By making such high-quality products, we can ensure that your Andersen windows and doors won’t end up in a landfill within just a few years. Our products are also backed by the strongest warranties, so you can have peace of mind that your Andersen windows and doors have a long service life.
